Who gardens unveiled
Does genealogy hard
Is only a cousin,
Is actually a second cousin,
Actually the genealogy was useless,
Actually we don't know who we are,
We don't know how we know this nun,
Nuns all have fake names,
She's an ex-nun,
When did she have the time,
Is she alive,
Why uncover some things and not others,
Why appear suddenly in America,
Why do we trust this ex-nun,
Who are we,
There is no America,
There are no nuns on the other side,
The Protestant side,
The (shudder) side,
No nuns who gardened unveiled,
Once wore a bikini,
Though it's so cold up there,
If you have a family,
Who are they,
Did they melt themselves away,
Or were melted,
I hate this country,
It's love for
Contextless beings,
Excommunicated for seeking self
Through ancestor,
Or wearing a bikini,
And for what,
It makes no sense,
The why's are all missing,
And it's a privilege to wonder
Who you are
"Contextless beings" - <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteIt is a privilege to wonder who you are - what a fantastic way to end this poem
ReplyDeletewhen did she have the time, and, why uncover some things and not others (love this esp. with the unveiling, the bikini wearing) <3
