Wood

The last car door slammed
and the chuckle of tire on
gravel let out a final ha
and then we were what
now and if I had memorised
the list I would have known
a year like this would soon
come around, where we
should give each other wood
to commemorate the roots we've
put down or all the excess wood
that now houses a child in
what was a guest room and
speaking of roots, the sewage
line is most likely full of them
I must get that sorted, wait,
what, now?
