Falling into mine

Mouth an unending cavern

Phosphorescent tonsils

Revealing

Row after row after row after

Row after row after row of

Teeth

I open my mouth to explain

All jaws go slack with horror

People shriek

Other sharks shriek

Fish condense into goo

Mollusks collapse into stardust

A trench appears

It swallows a future

It’s frightening I know

I’m frightened too

Of black lights

Of speed bumps

And mirrors

And mangoes

Of tongues in my mouth

Of my tongue, anywhere

Even with my mouth closed

My teeth consume me
