I NEVER USED DRYER BALLS BEFORE YOU

they were among a list of bougie-white-people-items I'd never purchase
or be given; door-stoppers shaped as animals, anagramed towels, doilies.
now that we wash our clothes together, and I can hear the beat of balled up
wool a floor below, somehow improving my to-dos with elegant efficiency.
somehow elevating my status. but I didn't buy them. and they weren't gifted
to me. and I'll never be invited to your family's destination holidays. I will
upkeep the wrinkled grooves of our life, aided by the things I never needed.
